Welcome to beautiful Hope Island where the sea sparkles, the daffodils are blooming and a blossoming romance is just around the corner…
Bella has always had a sunny outlook and caring nature, despite recently falling on hard times. When she finds a handsome homeless man on her doorstep, her kind heart tells her she must help him. So, she invites Isaac into her cottage and into her life in ways she could never have imagined… But Isaac is not what he seems. He’s keeping a huge secret from Bella, yet he never expected to fall for this open, generous and charming woman.
Bella can’t ignore the chemistry between her and Isaac, but she’s had her trust badly broken in her past. Will she run when she learns the truth about Isaac, or will he be the one man who can help Bella believe in love again?
My, oh my, I didn’t realise how much I could fall in love with a fictional world until Holly Martin’s ‘Spring at Blueberry Bay’ came along! May I please live on Hope Island!?
This is my very first Holly Martin book and it filled me with warmth, the perfect book to dig in to whilst wrapped up in bed, leaving you to fall asleep with a smile on your face.
Bella is a charity event fundraiser, she is creative, passionate, caring and her heart sits in the right place at all times. Her heart sits so right that she puts herself in danger when she lets a homeless man, Isaac, stay in her home, feeding him her last scraps of food, as she’s not far off to becoming homeless herself. The chemistry between the two grows stronger each day Isaac comes back to visit, the passion and tension between the both of them is shown strongly throughout the book, showcasing what really is important when it comes to romance.
Isaac holds a very big secret which could destroy everything he has grown with Bella, and when the secret is revealed, Bella knows all she can do is run, after being hurt multiple times in the past, can she really trust Isaac after he lied to her so quickly?
Bella is a genuine, kind-hearted woman who may come across as naive sometimes and displays a lot of vulnerability, but everything she does is for the right cause. Having grown up with the idea in her head that she is no capable of loving or being loved due to her parents, Bella is a rather independent woman, with walls so very high, who doesn’t necessarily need a man to define her. And with an extremely protective brother always by her side, finding the right man can be tricky. I could really relate to Bella, as I am also a very independent person and I don’t ever feel the need to find love to be whole. She’s such a charming and loveable character that I just couldn’t get enough of. Isaac’s intentions were rather wrong but, same as Bella, his heart has always been in the right place. I really liked Isaac, he is such an ambitious and charming character who knew what he wanted and wouldn’t stop until he got it, whether that be based on his work or Bella.
I loved the way Holly interpreted the dogs in to the book, they both had quite a big role in bringing Bella and Isaac together, and they even grow a bond between each other just as strong as Bella and Isaac’s.
Holly describes Hope Island so beautifully, making it easy to spark your imagination of all the vibrant houses and gorgeous views. Holly’s writing is so light and easy that it didn’t take me long to read the book at all, 2 days tops was all it took me! A romance packed with steamy scenes, with a light sense of humour and two characters that you just connect with so easily… This is the perfect for a hopeless romantic like myself!
I would not hesitate to pick up another one of Holly’s books and I can not wait for the sequel!
